Biographie

Michael Michaeledes was born in Nicosia in 1923. He studied Architecture and Fine Arts at Milan University, Italy & Central Polytechnic, London. He has lived in London since 1955, working as an artist and architect.

His early paintings of Cyprus are figurative, this element is gradually abandoned through abstract processes and gives way to juxtapositions of colour and line, which lead him to his reliefs.

He has been represented by London's Annely Juda since 1963. In 1976 he represented Greece at the Venice Biennale. First solo exhibition 1959, Leicester Galleries London and since has exhibited in 40 solo and over 80 group shows.

His work is held in museums, foundations and private collections all over the world.

His design and architectural work includes many residential buildings and interiors, warehouses, boats, a farm/safari lodge in Zambia, stable in Newmarket.

In 1954 won the Philadelphios Panhelennic poetry competition, Athens.

Michael died peacefully in London on 24th February 2015
