Biography

Drawing has always been part of her daily life. Studied architecture with Paul Virilio and created theater decors and costumes, in particular with Claude Regy.
1987, moved to New York, to paint until 1989. During this period experienced a decisive encounter with Louise Bourgeois.
1998, published a book with her: “Louise Bourgeois, l’aveugle guidant l’aveugle”(Editions Actes Sud), translated in 2008 as “Louise Bourgeois, the blind Leading the blind”.
1999, first exhibition of sculpture in accompanied by the book “Parfois seule” (Editions Actes Sud).
2001, exhibited drawings and sculptures and published “Laisser venir les fantomes” (Editions Actes Sud).
2004, invited to exhibit her sculpture at the La Salpetriere hospital in Paris, discovered in the hospital archives the hellish imprisonment there of thousands of women since the time of Louis XIV. Published “Les folles d’enfer de la Salpetriere”, accompanied by an installation of 260 sculptures in the hospital chapel.
2008, published “Laisser venir les secrets”(Editions Actes Sud).
2011, published “La Pompadour”, (Actes Sud/Sevres-Cite de la ceramique) which come with the sculpture “La Pompadour” produce in 8 ceramic specimens by Sevres-Cite de la Ceramique.
2012, proposed an exhibition with the archives of her father, the composer Iannis Xenakis, “Iannis Xenakis, draughtsman on dawn of work”. MUba, Eugene Leroy, Tourcoing. (to see the movie, click here). She presented her work also at Gallery Taiss in Paris, at the Gaillac – Palais d’iena, Paris and at the gallery Polad Hardouin, Paris.
2013, participated at the exhibition “Sculptrices” at the Villa Datris, l’Isle sur Sorgues. Participated at the realisation of a work of embroidery and lace command of Manufacture des gobelins. 1998 publie un livre avec Louise Bourgeois, «Louise Bourgeois, l’aveugle guidant l’aveugle» aux éditions Actes Sud.

Η Μάχη Ξενάκη, είναι Ελληνίδα συγγραφέας και γλύπτρια, κόρη του συνθέτη και αρχιτέκτονα Ιάννη Ξενάκη και της συγγραφέα Φρανσουάζ Ξενακίς. Γεννήθηκε το 1956 στο Παρίσι, όπου ζει και εργάζεται μέχρι και σήμερα και σπούδασε αρχιτεκτονική με τον Paul Virilio.
To 1987 μετακομίζει στη Νέα Υόρκη για να εργασθεί ως ζωγράφος, και συνεργάζεται με τη Louise Bourgeois. To 1998, εκδίδει ένα βιβλίο-αφιέρωμα με τίτλο “Louise Bourgeois, the blind Leading the blind”.
To 1999 διεξάγει την πρώτη της γλυπτική έκθεση η οποία συνοδεύεται από το βιβλίο της “Parfois seule”.
To 2004 καλείται να εκθέσει το γλυπτό της στο νοσοκομείο La Salpetriere στο Παρίσι, όπου και ανακάλυψε στα αρχεία του νοσοκομείου την καταδικαστική φυλάκιση χιλιάδων γυναικών εκεί, από την εποχή του Λουδοβίκου XIV. Έτσι δημοσίευσε το “Les folles d’enfer de la Salpetriere”, συνοδευόμενο από την εγκατάσταση 260 γλυπτών στο παρεκκλήσι του νοσοκομείου.
Έχει λάβει μέρος σε πληθώρα ομαδικών και ατομικών εκθέσεων καθώς και έχει εκδώσει ένα μεγάλο αριθμό βιβλίων.
